Berklee-Trained Artist Liu Tianqi Releases Debut Single “City Lights”
Independent pop single arrives August 15 on all major streaming platforms.

BOSTON, MA, July 6, 2026 — Independent pop artist Liu Tianqi (柳天奇) today announced the release of his debut single, “City Lights,” out August 15 on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major streaming platforms. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Liu wrote, performed, and co-produced the track in Boston.
“City Lights” marks Liu Tianqi’s first official release since graduating from Berklee. Built around glossy synths, warm bass, and an anthemic chorus, the song captures the restless energy of a young artist finding his way through a new city on his own terms. It is the lead single from a forthcoming EP, with additional music expected later this year.
“I wrote this song about the first few months after I moved to the city — feeling lost and electric at the same time,” said Liu Tianqi. “I wanted the production to feel like walking around at night, when everything looks brighter than it should.”
A behind-the-scenes video documenting the writing and recording process will premiere on Liu Tianqi’s YouTube channel on August 15. Liu will also perform “City Lights” live for the first time at an intimate release show at 1140 Boylston St, Boston, MA. Doors open at 7:00 PM; the show begins at 8:00 PM. Tickets will be available soon.
About Liu Tianqi
Liu Tianqi is an independent pop artist and songwriter based in Boston, Massachusetts. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, he has spent the past several years developing a sound that blends contemporary pop production with introspective songwriting. “City Lights” is his debut single as a solo artist and the first glimpse of a full EP planned for later this year.
